I don't think I ever replied to this... Sorry! Unfortunately I have to have a policy of not giving up where any of the games I play in are (I'm sure you understand). The best I can tell you is either talk with friends who play, or start going to some of the AC casinos and get to know people at your table. I'm sure in no time you will meet people who play at these games. I run into people I play with around the city down there all the time. Good luck!

Great post about rakeback. I feel like most people have no idea what it is and end up losing a lot of money by signing up for online poker sites without rakeback.

Hey man, i enjoy reading the posts, keep it up! I'm wondering if you can point me to a resource online where I can find some good underground games in New York. I'm from Washington and played in the Indian casinos out there but since moving to NYC I have a hard time finding a game. Help!

Hey Erik - You won't really ever know what rooms are safe until you've been there / talked with friends you trust who have been there. My best advice is if you feel uncomfortable about the people or the game, get out of there. As for getting in to a room, I have a general policy on this blog that I will not give out names / locations of rooms for my own safety / that of the people who come to the site, but definitely ask around among your poker playing friends in the city. Your best bets are (1) go to AC or CT and get to know people who play there who also play in the city, you're bound to meet someone who knows a game, or (b) to PM people on various poker forums (like twoplustwo) who mention underground games. They will be unlikely to help you out without meeting you first, but you never know. Good luck out there!

I've seen some of the episodes and agree that his plays could have been better. I think one hand he flopped top two pair and moved all in on Hellmuth. I guess for an amateur it might make sense to take the play away from the pro, but not exactly the kind of movehe should have done, especially since he could have extracted some value from Phil.

@gratis - Thanks. Appreciate the support. It's pretty wild out there, but I'm going to try to keep up with it.

@no depost - I play all over the city. Even though the game has declined somewhat in Manhattan there are still games every night just about everywhere - downtown, chelsea, harlem, midtown, queens, etc. Thanks for checking in.
